President Obama Proclaims October National Arts and Humanities Month

President Obama has challenged all of us to recognize the importance of and the role that the arts and humanities play in enriching  our lives by proclaiming October National Arts and Humanities Month. Take some time this month to visit an art gallery or museum, read a book, see a play, learn something about your history. And continue to do so after October is over.

Art and Love

Do you love the artwork you collect? If you answered yes, here's why.  "Looking at Art Is Like Being in Love: A series of new brain-mapping experiments — in which participants looked at works by Boticelli, Monet, and Constable — have shown that the same part of the brain (the orbito-frontal cortex, to be precise) is stimulated when you're falling in love as when you admire great artworks.
